Convergence acommodated by shortening/thickening
The convergence of landmasses is accommodated by horizontal shortening and thickening via crustal-scale thrusts such as the Main Boundary Thrust (MBT) and the Main Central Thrust (MCT) accommodating hundreds of kilometer of shortening and the doubling of the thickness of the crust in Tibet.
