mountain belts
The fold and thrust belt (Tertiary) on the foreland of Canadian Cordillera is a good example of F&T belt.
Upper structural level: Fold and Thrust belts
Local structural complexities arise from the 1/ the irregular shape of the thrust surface with oblique to lateral ramps linking frontal thrust segments, 2/ from lateral termination of folds and thrust sometime merging into a strike-slip faults, and 3/ the activation of back-thrusts.
