Interpretation and model validation:

Balanced cross-sections: A 3D architecture is valid only if it can be restored (back-deformed) and balanced (surface area are conserved through deformation).


Modelling: A 3D architecture is valid if it can be reasonably reproduced through experimental or numerical modelling.

The section B shows the geometry at the end of the deposition of the green formation. The area of the green and blue formations are conserved.
