Linear structural features develop as the result of micro-folding and surfaces intersection. Fold rodding lineations, also called crenulation lineations, correspond to the hinge of micro-folds along bedding planes. Cleavage-bedding intersections are called intersection lineations. Those lineations can appear on both cleavage and bedding surfaces. Both type of lineation run parallel to the fold axis, they are used as a proxy for fold hinges. |
