Foliations and Lineations
Foliations and lineations forming processes:
3/ Flowing of magma results in the alignement on minerals into magmatic foliations and lineations. It is important to realize that magmatic foliation do not say much about the direction of magmatic flow. Like any other tectonic fabrics, magmatic fabrics only inform about finite strain (ie, XYZ axes of the strain framework). |
