| This is a radiometric image on the Pilbara craton (WA). It shows the intensity of the gamma ray emissions related to the desintegration of radiogenic elements (mainly Uranium, Potassium, and Thorium): the brighter the color to stronger the emissions and the more radiogenic the rocks. The granitic domes are radiogenic whereas the greenstones (dark area with red strippes of more radiogenic felsic volcanics) are extremely depleted in radiogenic elements. |
