PRACTICAL 3: STEREOGRAPHIC PROJECTION AND THE STEREONET.
How to plot a line on the stereonet?

Let's plot the line plunging 63º toward 124. Again you should first guess the result. A line will be represent as a point on the stereonet. A line plunging toward the SE should give a dot located in the SE sector of the stereonet.

First, mark the plunge direction of the line on the overlay. Then, rotate the overlay so that this mark aligns with the EW diameter of the stereonet. Along the EW diameter count 63º starting from the mark on the outer circle. Rotate the overlay back to its fundamental position. You can now compare this result with your initial guess. The dot is located on the SE sector in accord with the plunging direction of the line.
