Renewable Energy Sources
Solar energy is the most important renewable energy source. It has the advantage to be clean, constant, and reliable. Its main drawback is to be distributed over large area and therefore it requires be concentrated in a small control center. To satisfy the present need for electrical energy of North America a collecting system 100kmx250km would be required. However, local use in individual homes and buildings would help to alleviate the need for other forms of energy.
This facility near sunny Dagget, California uses solar energy to generate electricity. Reflecting mirrors focus on a water tower, concentrating the Sun's energy and converting the water to turbine-driving steam.
