It was indeed a successful field course. The students clearly enjoyed their time in Plumbago and many requested for more field courses as they reckoned that their learning, in both geology and geophysics, benefited from their direct access to the field. For many the learning curve was steep and the workload was larger than expected, but overall and despite our routine and merciless 6 am wakeup call, long days in the field, and a final and cold overnight work, all students gave us some very positive feedbacks.
Thanks to the very positive attitude of the students from both Macquarie and Sydney Uni, it was a very enjoyable experience for the staff too. It certainly helped that the facility at Plumbago was as good as it can get, but if I have to point to one determinant factor that insured the success of the course I will point toward the good attitude of each and every student. All students participated to that success by showing academic leadership, supportive teammate attitude, being open to learning, and by their good sense of humor and timely jokes (...the pasta are NOT ready yet...). Despite a large range of personality, background, and expectation, everyone got along with everyone else, and we hope that everyone got something out of it.
Thank all for a great field course...
